Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Super Smash Bros. for 3DS’ roster just got bigger by three characters. Today Nintendo held their Super Smash Bros. exclusive Nintendo Direct and it was jam-packed with news including release dates for both versions. We also got news that three fan-favorite characters will be returning.
First up is Yoshi. The green-lizard, dinosaur thing has been a playable character since the very first Super Smash Bros. game on the Nintendo 64. Not putting him in the latest Super Smash Bros. game would have been a real crime.
It was also revealed that Zero Suit Samus and Sheik would join the roster rather than just be alternate versions of Samus and Zelda. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Zelda could switch between her normal and Sheik form at the press of a button. Using Samus’ Final Smash would cause her armor to fall apart and allow players to play as Zero Suit Samus. Now they’re their own characters with original move sets and abilities.
Super Smash Bros. for 3DS is out Summer 2014 and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is out Winter 2014.
