The Amazing Spider-Man 2 On Xbox One Is Cancelled

It looks like the Xbox One will be missing out on its first Spider-Man game.  The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has been cancelled for the Xbox One, though there is still hope that it may see the light of day sometime in the future.

MCV first noticed something off when they found this quote on the game’s official site.  “We want to inform you that we are revising our release plans for ASM2 on Xbox One.  When and whether ASM2 is released on Xbox One is TBD.”

Activision then finally commented on the growing unrest confirming that the game is not coming, but that Microsoft could help make it happen.  “We are working with Microsoft in an effort to release The Amazing Spider-Man 2 video game on Xbox One,” an Activision spokesperson told Eurogamer. “Currently, the game will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii U, Nintendo 3DS and the PC on 2nd May, 2014 as previously announced.”

It’s strange to hear of this cancellation so close to the game’s launch.  Even stranger knowing that the game is still releasing on Xbox 360.  We’ll let you know if Activision decides to un-cancel the Xbox One version.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is out April 29 on PS4, PC, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U and 3DS.
