CD Projekt Red Reiterates That The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Will Not Have PC DRM

CD Projekt Red is unique in this industry.  The studio consistently displays strong trust in its consumers, so much so that they don’t include DRM in their games.  This is at odds with most of the big-name publishers who wholeheartedly use DRM as a means to curb piracy.  CD Projekt Red’s philosophy on DRM is that it harms consumers more than it helps, which sounds so good that the studio had to be asked one more time if there was any DRM.

Speaking with Red Bull, Level Designer Miles Tost reiterated that there will be no DRM when purchasing the PC version from GOG.com.  “You’ll be able to purchase The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for PC on GOG.com from day one. We believe that DRM does more harm to legit gamers than good for the gaming industry, that’s why the game will also be completely DRM-free.”

While this is something we’ve known for a while, it’s always good to hear that CD Projekt Red isn’t backing away from its DRM-free policy.  You can look forward to playing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on PS4, Xbox One and PC February 2015.
