What a crazy way to start the day! Dark Souls II was something our own Adam Beck raved about during our podcast recording last night and this morning, news breaks that From Software – the developer of the franchise, has been bought out. Japanese Publisher Kadokawa bought 80% of their stock in a deal that will be finalized on May 21. This deal doesn’t mean the end of From Software as its own thing – they’ll just be one of the development teams within Kadokawa. This move allows the parent company to gain a ton of credibility instantly by having them in their stable, and raises their profile immediately as well. From has created some amazing games in the bast, so hopefully this new chapter in their life cycle benefits them, because they’ve clearly got a unique vision for gaming and a lot of talent within the company.
