The Magical Journey Begins!
Time-bending puzzle-platformer Chronology is officially coming to Steam. Currently a Windows PC exclusive, Chronology‘s development began under the now-defunct Progressive Media before Denmark-based indie micro-developer osao games took over.
Set in a magical, colorful world, Chronology tells the story of an inventor who wakes up to find the world has ended. Amnesia prevents him from recalling what happened, so he sets out across the mechanical retro-futuristic fantasy universe to uncover the secrets of his past. Along the way, he finds a device that allows him to travel back in time, helping him to slowly recover his memory. With the help of an adorable, friendly snail, he sets out to save the world by altering the events of the past.
Selected as one of the eight finalists for the Nordic Game Indie Sensation Award, Chronology uses time-shifting to illustrate the perils of its protagonist. The gameplay combines classic platforming with challenging time-based puzzles, requiring the player to use both dexterity and brain-power to advance.
Game Director Niels Højgaard Sørensen described the team’s inspiration for Chronology, saying, “as massive fans of Hayao Miyazaki, the world of Chronology has been deeply influenced by animated classics such as Howls Moving Castle and My Friend Totoro. We’ve taken these worlds and mixed them with video game classics – Day of the Tentacles and Lost Vikings, as players travel back and forth between ages to uncover an adventure of mixed dimensions.”
Chronology will be available for $9.99 when it hits the Steam store May 12.
