Halo 5: Guardians Announced For a Fall 2015 Release on Xbox One

Well, this is an early-morning surprise. Microsoft has been in the news all week with their Xbox One hardware announcements, and now word has gotten out about some killer software. Bonnie Ross, the General Manager of 343 Industries announced today that the game we saw at E3 last year was Halo 5: Guardians. The next installment of the Halo franchise will launch in the fall of 2015.

The game is set to be a bigger effort than Halo 4, and the technology behind the franchise has been retooled to make better use of next-gen hardware.  The blog post also featured some hype about the Halo TV series, which should come out around the same time. It will stand on its own, but also work as something that enriches the game experience – so it’s an expanded universe thing that will basically serve to make you care more about the mythos.

More information about the game will be revealed on June 9 at the Xbox media briefing at E3. Hardcore Gamer will be there to cover that event live, so check the site out then for the latest news and reactions to what should be a big year for Microsoft going forward.
