Ike from the Fire Emblem franchise is the 30th character announced for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Super Smash Bros. for 3DS. Franchise creator Masahiro Sakurai made the announcement on Miiverse as part of his daily update.
“Ike, the swordsman of magnificent strength, joins the battle!! Strike your foes down with his powerful smash attacks,” Sakuari wrote.
Ike makes his return to the Super Smash Bros. franchise for the second time after being introduced in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. He and Marth are the only Fire Emblem characters confirmed to be in the game.
There are now a total of 30 characters confirmed for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS. Returning characters include Ike, Marth, Mario, Luigi, Pikachu, Lucario, Link, Bowser and Princess Peach among others. New characters include Greninja, Little Mac, Mega Man and Wii Fit Trainer among others.
Super Smash Bros. for 3DS is out summer 2014 on 3DS. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is out winter 2014 on Wii U.
