Investors have long urged the company to sell off the Xbox brand and have the company focus completely on software development, but that won’ the case. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has set the record straight, stating that they aren’t going to sell the Xbox brand.
Speaking at the Code Conference in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, Nadella killed the investors’ dreams commenting, “I have no intent to do anything different with Xbox than we are doing today.”
He also confirmed that Bing, Microsoft’s oft-criticized search engine, isn’t going away either. Bing is heavily integrated into Microsoft products including Windows Phone, Surface and both the Xbox 360 and Xbox One and currently owns 30% of the search engine market.
This news arrives after the internal shake-up within the Xbox division that saw Phil Spencer become Head of Xbox. Under his supervision, the company is hoping to turn around the Xbox One’s fortunes by focusing more on games, dropping the Kinect and offering Xbox One at a much lower price.
