1001 Spikes Releasing on 3DS and Wii U June 3, Bugs and All

Earlier this week, the 1001 Spikes release date was revealed for PS4, PS Vita and Steam. Surprisingly, however, the previously announced 3DS and Wii U versions of the game were not mentioned by developer Niclas leading to much speculation. It was announced today, however, that those versions will indeed be releasing alongside the others on June 3. The positive reason for the original exclusion was because a loyalty discount for 3DS players who own previous Nicalis titles was in the process of being implemented. It’s been approved and players who already own VVVVVV, NightSky, Cave Story, Ikachan or Grinsia will get $5 dollars off of 1001 Spikes MSRP of $14.99.

Unfortunately, the other reason was that bugs were discovered in the Nintendo version and time was taken to decide whether it’d be best to push the release or release it as is. The latter was ultimately decided on and the game will be released with known issues. Nintendo assured Nicalas that an update will be issued with in a couple of days to knock them out, however, so the game will eventually play as intended.
