Nintendo Announces 2DS New Super Mario Brothers Special Edition Bundle

For those of you who haven’t picked up New Super Mario Bros. 2 for your 3DS yet (and as the game launched in 2012 that may not leave many of you), and for those of you whoe are looking for any reason at all to go out and get a 2DS, Nintendo has today announced that a new hardware bundle for the Nintendo 2DS, including the New Super Mario Bros. 2 Special Edition, to be released on July 4, 2014.

Included in the bundle is a Nintendo 2DS White & Red plus a copy of New Super Mario Bros. 2 pre-installed on a 4GB memory card.  Wait though, didn’t we just mention it was a “Special Edition” above?  We sure did, and the New Super Mario Bros. 2 Special Edition offering comes complete with all Coin Rush mode add-on content released for the game since its launch in August 2012, which adds up to about 80 additional levels with hidden areas and secrets galore.

The Coin Rush add-on content packs included as part of the New Super Mario Bros. 2 Special Edition offer courses of different difficulty levels, with players able to share their scores for Coin Rush with other players via StreetPass and show off their riches, and you will be able to do Co-Op play with anyone that has the game on a 3DS or 2DS, so they’ve got that going for them too.

Oh Nintendo, why not just announce a NEW New Super Mario Bros. game at E3 and bundle that into your less successful handheld system?
