Sony closed out their E3 press conference with a trailer showcasing the latest, and possibly final Uncharted game. It began with Sully’s narration playing into a conversation with Nathan Drake. Drake’s been out of the game, but needs to pull off one last job. We’re not given anymore information, but Drake appeared to be in his ’40s now, and the nature of it being a story done after his retirement reminds me a lot of Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro. The subtitle of A Thief’s End further drove that point home for me. Nothing about the story was revealed, but it seems logical to assume that his reasoning will involve Elena somehow. Nathan’s shown in a skeleton-filled area, so maybe she’s been kidnapped. Given how much the Uncharted series pushed both the Vita and PS3, it’s impossible to not salivate at the thought of how good the game will look on the PS4 – especially when the very first image shown is of a top-notch Nathan Drake model with realistic cuts and wounds on his face. Naughty Dog is one of the industry’s best developers, and they raised their stock more than anyone else on the PS3. Now, they’ve got a chance to continue that momentum with the PS4 in 2015. No release period was announced, but hopefully it gets a spring release so we’re not waiting a terribly-long time for it.
