Habitat is all about building a habitat in space. Your goal is to make a space station out of junk. The Earth is doomed and tons of things have been sent up to space – including the Statue of Liberty’s head! You can rotate anything around to suit your needs, so if you want to put the Statue of Liberty’s head on upside down, go for it. Habitat isn’t just about building stuff though – it’s also about maintaining it. It’s about surviving with enemies going after you on the outside, and your space station’s citizens not being a big fan of outer space and making mistakes like accidentally opening the airlock. It’s a single-player experience so far, but the most common request is multiplayer and the devs are exploring the option.
The game was funded on Kickstarter with a goal of $50,000, but ended up grossing $64,000. Habitat may be about survival, but you can also have fun and set up a giant laser to destroy whatever you want to. If you’re into games like XCOM, or the Civilization games, this seems like it will be your cup of tea. The game comes to Steam Early Access next month, so you won’t have to wait very long to find out.
