E3 2014: Not a Hero Coming in Early 2015 to PC, PS4, and Vita

The folks being OlliOlli are back with another retro-looking game. It’s a 2D side-scrolling shooter, but with a simulation mechanic as well. You’ve got a limited amount of ammo and a pixel art style with a bit of a twist to it. The basic art design has a pre-NES look, but the animation for things like lip movement and your character’s movement are much smoother. This game came about due to having a six month wait from Sony due to OlliOlli when they sold it, and they crafted this after reworking a prototype. The game’s story aims for the absurd, since whatever character you choose to play as is working for a time-traveling purple bunny with the goal of being mayor. Since your ammo is limited, you’ll need to remember to reload. You can’t just approach it like you would BroForce and start spraying bullets everywhere. If you run out though, you will be able to kill with a close-range attack. Doing that will get you an ammo pickup for an enemy, and as a reward, you’ll get some extra-damaging items.

Things like pipe and nail bombs are in along with AN EXPLODING CAT. OlliOlli was amazing and this looks incredibly fun too. Not a Hero continues the dev team’s trend of making games you can enjoy in bite-sized doses. OlliOlli was fun to screw around with for 15 minutes at a time, and this looks like it will be as well. This game will be hitting PC via Steam first, but will hit the PS4 and Vita shortly thereafter. It’s set for an early 2015 release, so if you loved OlliOlli, you’ll probably dig this too.
