343 Industries was at RTX 2014 this past weekend showing off the Halo: The Master Chief Collection. A ton of new info was released for the upcoming Remaster of the four main games, including a brand new trailer. We also got the confirmation of another Halo 2 map that is getting the remaster treatment; Coagulation.
343 is planning on remastering six classic Halo 2 maps for Halo 2 Anniversary Edition, which is a part of the Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Coagulation launched with Halo 2 as a remake of the popular Blood Gulch from Halo: Combat Evolved. Other confirmed maps include Ascension, which was shown off at Microsoft’s E3 2014 Press Conference.
The developer also announced that the Mongoose vehicle is being overhauled to make it more useful in combat. Called the Gungoose, this modified ATV gives the player riding something to do thanks to the new turret on the back. Gungoose CTF has been specifically crafted around this new improvement with 343 Industries highlighting Coagulation as the perfect map to play the new game mode on.
Finally, the studio confirmed that Terminals will return for Halo 2 Anniversary Edition. Terminals were introduced in Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary Edition where they unlocked a motion comic hinting at the events of Halo 4. The terminals in Halo 2 will hint at the events of Halo 5, but from the Arbiter’s perspectice, a character who will return in Halo 5: Guardians.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection is out November 11 exclusively on Xbox One.
