Three New Characters Announced for Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U

This morning’s Super Smash Bros. announcement brought not one, not two, but three new characters to the upcoming Super Smash Bros. games’ roster. Lucina and Robin, both hailing from last year’s 3DS sensation Fire Emblem: Awakening, join the fray along with the returning Captain Falcon. Fans have been very vocal of their desire to see Lucina in the new games, but many felt she was to be snubbed after older Fire Emblem characters Ike and Marth were announced long prior. Robin is a particularly surprising addition, boasting expendable magic tomes and the enchanted Levin sword, making for a fighter well versed in both swordplay and distance attacks. And though Captain Falcon didn’t receive his own special introduction, his supporting role in the video confirms his participation in the new Super Smash Bros. games, which will both be released before year’s end. Chrom, one of the iconic Fire Emblem: Awakening characters, will be included as an assist trophy, but will sadly not be playable.
