In what has to be the most bizarre news of the day, Mercedes-Benz Japan has reportedly seen an increase in traffic (okay, okay I’m done) in its dealership showrooms following that uber-strange Mario commercial. Just in case you’ve never seen the brain-melting video, here it is in all its glory:
Mercedes-Benz Japan’s President and CEO Kintaro Ueno made sure to note that the success of the new Mercedes GLA is mostly a result of the new model’s merits. Nonetheless, there has been a legitimate increase in customers as a result of the video:
[The commercial] was quite a talking point, bringing a lot of people to the showroom. This is a new market segment for us, but it has exceeded our expectations. I can say that it’s going well.
