June 2014 Hardware Sales Leak, PS4 Very Far Ahead Of Competition

This morning the NPD Group released the hardware and software sales for June 2014.  Like usual, the group withheld the actual sales numbers of the hardware, but it didn’t take long for someone to get their hands on the numbers and post them online.  Well known industry insider Thuway posted the numbers on Twitter.

The PS4 was by far the clear winner of June 2014 with 72,000 more units sold than its closest competitor. the Xbox One.  The 3DS came in behind both the next-gen consoles with 152,000 with the Wii U following closely behind.  Overall it was a very good month for all three eighth-generation consoles and Nintendo’s handheld.

All of the seventh-generation consoles (PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii) experienced declines compared to June 2013.  Sadly, the PS Vita also saw worse sales than the same month last year.  It looks like the Borderlands 2 PS Vita Slim bundle didn’t sway many people, and it didn’t help that Sony virtually ignored the handheld at E3 2014.

Check out all the sales below:

  1. PS4 – 269,000
  2. Xbox One – 197,000
  3. 3DS – 152,000
  4. Wii U – 140.000
  5. Xbox 360 – 62,000
  6. PS3 – 42,000
  7. Wii – 19,000
  8. PS Vita – 15,000

      PS4 – 269,000.

      Xbox One – 197,000

Maybe you looked at the wrong numbers and got confused with the PS Vitas 15,000 which does look like it will die there soon.

        Supply constrained.

XB1 is dropping to sub-100k in July NPDs. The $400 SKU was only a temporary sales bump.
