True to his word, creator Dong Nguyen has re-released mobile sensation Flappy Bird, featuring new features and a new title: Flappy Birds Family. The updated game doesn’t change the core gameplay, which means players will still be flapping and avoiding pipes, but Flappy Birds Family also introduces new obstacles and multiplayer to the equation. The game’s description reads:
Flappy Birds now are on Amazon Fire TV with incredible new features: Person vs Person mode, more obstacles, more fun and still very hard. Enjoy playing the game at home (not breaking your TV) with your family and friends.
The game is currently only available on Amazon’s Appstore for Android, which when downloaded to Amazon’s Fire TV means the flapping of your bird is now controlled by pressing a button instead of tapping on a screen. The game’s arrival on additional platforms has yet to be announced, but it seems safe to assume that we’ll eventually see Flappy Birds Family on more devices.
Nguyen removed Flappy Bird from Apple’s AppStore and Google Play in February after claiming the game’s popularity and addictive nature was negatively affecting his “simple life”. Only time will tell if he can cope with the latest version’s potential popularity, or if Flappy Bird’s fifteen minutes of fame are finally up.
