OUYA Begins Developing Developers Initiative

The OUYA has been a developer-friendly system since day one. Every OUYA can be turned into a dev kit, and now the company has launched the Developing Developers Initiative. They’ve released a new firmware update that revamps the Make section. It now has a 20 minute tutorial on the basics of making and publishing a game on the system. There’s even a step-by-step tutorial on how to get a demo on the system up quickly.

The tutorial video is incredibly helpful and shows you a lot of little steps, like just which link to click on for certain things, to make the process as painless as possible.  This system update also makes sideloading easier thanks to a new Upload area in the Make section. All you have to do is go to the custom URL provided on your PC that virtually connects your PC to your OUYA and drag and drop an APK for testing – no more clunky Dropbox downloads and in-system navigation with a file manager required! For being a micro-update to the firmware, this is a pretty historic day for the system as anyone can now get their feet wet in game development.
