Gamescom 2014: Play Far Cry 4 Co-Op With Friends Who Don’t Own The Game

Far Cry 4 made an appearance at Sony’s Gamescom 2014 press conference to show off a brand new feature coming exclusively to the PS4 and PS3 versions of the game.  When traversing the open-world, players can call in their PSN friends to play alongside them.  Well, on PlayStation, you can invite friends that don’t even own the game to join your open-world adventures.

Every copy of the game will come with ten “Keys to Kyrat.”  Owners of the game distribute these keys to different friends that allow them to play Far Cry 4 Co-Op for a total of two hours.  After the time is up they will then have to purchase the game to continue playing.  This program is a great way to try out the game and see if you like it before purchase.

Ubisoft also showed off new supernatural gameplay.  It appears that you will go back in time and fight native enemies with a bow in order to find relics that will lead you to the ancient city of Shambala.  It’s pretty neat and trippy at the same time, but this is from the same people who made the drug-infused, trippy sequences of Far Cry 3 so what do you expect?

Far Cry 4 is out November 18 on PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
