On Tuesday, August 26 a “shocking” new pokémon project is expected to be announced in collaboration with Famitsu magazine.
The new project will be streamed via a Niconico Livestream on August 26th at 10 pm JST (6 a.m. PST) and called “Famitsu Featuring Pokémon Special.” Also, solidifying that this event will be sort of a big deal is that the president of The Pokémon Company, Tsunekazu Ishihara, will be at the event.
Siliconera offers some speculation as to what the news could be. Two titles were teased a year ago: Pokkén Fighter, which showed Lucario about to fight Blaziken and the Pikachu detective game that was never “formally” announced but had a sneak peek shown last year on TV. The Pokémon universe is a vast one though so there’s no telling what the news could be or if it truly will be “shocking.” I think the first thing to collectively come to everyone’s mind when they initially hear the news is a Pokémon MMO. We can only hope that actually happens, but whatever it is the Wii U is about to get a little more popular.
