PSN was supposed to be down tomorrow, so this weekend was supposed to just be a time to enjoy some PSN gaming thanks to a flash sale. Instead, a DDoS attack has taken PSN down. Over a year ago, all of PSN was down for around a month due to a similar attack and it resulted in Sony giving away a couple of games to everyone for their trouble. The biggest fears here are that credit card information could be compromised and people could wind up being unable to download games for a while. This means that the digital-heavy console industry could suffer a loss of game-specific coverage due to things being impossible to obtain during an outage. Hopefully, this outage can be resolved quickly before any longer-term damage is done.
