No doubt riding on the success of Gareth Edward’s American produced Godzilla film and its more recent debut in Japan, Bandai Namco Games has released its newest promotional movie of its upcoming monstrous title, Gojira-Godzilla. Set to be stomping and breathing energy beams all over the Japanese PS3 December 18th of this year, this latest entry looks to be a very promising departure from the, ahem, less impressive Godzilla games we’ve had exposure to in the past. The new game fortunately seems to have taken a hint from Bandai Namco’s successful Gundam franchise, and its interface in fact looks quite similar, using giant city landscapes as battle arenas and plethora of the series’ characters such Motha, Mecha Godzilla, and King Ghidorah.
Gojira-Godzilla marks the first Godzilla series game to be released in seven years, the last being Pipeworks Software’s Godzilla: Unleashed for the PS2, Wii, and DS. Bandai Namco does not appear to have any plans to localize the title, which has resulted in cult followers jump starting their own petition to have it brought over stateside. Good luck guys.
Oh, by the way, here’s the video:
