This month, Devi Ever – pixel artist, musician, and game developer – has organized a game jam themed around the Nintendo Entertainment System over at ich.io/jam/nesjam . This has no relation with retrostark’s NES Jam, which will be taking place later this year.
Developers will have until October 1st to create a game that operates within the bounds of the original NES. Thaat means 256 x 224 resolution, 64 colors, 8 x 8 pixel tiles, and music that accurately emulates the NES’ own.
This will be a no contest jam, so there won’t be a winner decided by votes. Really, the players of these games will be the winners, but hopefully the developers will enjoy the experience. Fans of retro-looking and feeling games will have a blast come October.
