Apple Announces iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus

Apple kicked off their press conference today with the announcement of their brand new iPhone models. Now known as the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, both models feature a new design, more advanced tech, and add some highly desired new features to the iPhone.

Rumors about the iPhone 6 came mostly true. The iPhone 6 will sport a 4.7in screen and is precisely 6.8mm thick, and the iPhone 6 Plus sports a 5.5in screen and comes in at 7.1mm thick. Both models sport a new design similar to Apple’s iPad Air. The volume buttons are now pill shaped, the body is curved, and the Apple symbol is built into the phone. Like the iPhone 5S, iPhone 6 will come in Gold, Space Gray, and Silver.

Both models come equipped with Apple’s new A8 chip and M8 motion co-processor. While Apple didn’t release any specs, they did note that the A8 chip is 25% faster than the A7, with a 50% boost in graphics performance. To showcase this new power, Apple invited Super Evil Mega Corp. on stage to showcase their new MOBA; Vainglory. LTE and Wi-Fi functionality have also been given a significant upgrade over previous models. The devices support up to 20 LTE bands, and Wi-Fi will now use 802.11ac making Wi-Fi signals up to 3x faster.

The camera on the iPhone 6 models is still a disappointing 8 mega-pixels, but there are enough improvements that the camera isn’t completely left in the dust by competition. A new sensor has been placed on the camera for auto-focus to work twice as fast. iPhone 6 Plus exclusively gets optical image stabilization, which helps nullify some shakiness from captured video. Speaking of video, iPhone 6 can now shoot in 1080p at 30fps or 60fps.
