Thanks again to CoroCoro Magazine, we’re getting our first look at a couple of new Mega Evolutions. In Pokémon X and Y it takes a special kind of trainer to be able to harness the power of the Mega Stones. By the information gathered in the magazine, it looks like more trainers are capable of using its power in Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby.
Mega Sharpedo is gigantic compared to its original state. It grows some spikes on its snout, probably to inflict more pain. Mega Sharpedo keeps Water/Dark typing but gains the Strong Jaw ability. This will give an extra power boost to any biting, crunching or fang attacks. Archie, the leader of Team Aqua will have Mega Sharpedo. On the other hand, Maxie, Team Magma’s leader, will have Mega Camerupt. It looks like a giant, fuzzy Slugma actually. As a Mega, it gains Sheer Force which will boost certain attacks as long as they have additional effects such as stat changes or burning. It now has a singular volcano on its back instead of two, looks like it can erupt with devastating explosions. The final one is Mega Gallade. It’s only natural to see him since his counterpart, Gardevoir, already goes mega. He is Wally’s Pokémon, the boy you help in the beginning of the game. If Wally gains a Mega Stone it’s evident he became a strong trainer. There’s no known changes to Gallade besides its appearance, it gains cape-like wings attached to its arms.
Along with new Mega Evolutions comes information on Primal Kyogre and Groundon. CoroCoro says they each gain new abilities. Land of Endings causes intense sunlight and Sea of Beginnings makes it rain. It’s unknown how they differ from their original abilities, perhaps they will just last longer or cannot be removed. There are only two months until the release of the game, so we’re sure to get more details in the near future.
