Confirmed: Final Fantasy XIII and Sequels are Heading to PC

Square Enix has confirmed that Final Fantasy XIII, XIII-2, and Lightning Returns are coming to PC via Steam. It all kicks off with Final Fantasy XIII, which will release October 9. This confirms the leak we reported on yesterday.

You can purchase the game for download on the Square Enix online store or straight off of Steam for the low price of $15.99. Pre-order from Steam and you’ll get an extra 10% off the asking price. Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII will be released sometime in the near future. Square Enix promises that all three games be on Steam before the end of spring 2015.

Known as the XIII trilogy, or the Lightning Saga, the trio of games have shipped over 11 million units worldwide. Announced at E3 2006, Final Fantasy XIII finally saw the light of day in 2010 with XIII-2 following in 2012, and Lightning Returns in 2014. Despite shipping many units, the trilogy of games has not been well received by fans, and are often considered one of the worst numbered Final Fantasy games in the franchise.
