Assassin’s Creed Film Delayed till 2016

Ubisoft and 20th Century Fox’s long-gestating Assassin’s Creed film has suffered another delay. Originally slated to release August 7, 2015, the film has now been pushed back to 2016 with no firm release date.

Hollywood Reporter suggests that the delay stems from the script, which has had to be  re-written several times, and scheduling issues. Michael Fassbender, who has been attached to star in the film from day one, has become a hit actor and is in high demand. 20th Century Fox already has him cast as a young Magneto in 2016s X-Men: Apocalypse, which leaves little time for other projects. However, he remains attached and committed to the Assassin’s Creed project.

20th Century Fox has announced that their Fantastic Four reboot will take Assassin’s Creed’s launch date of August 7. They also confirmed that another long-gestating project, Deadpool, is moving forward.
