Now that Oculus VR is working on new and improved versions of their headset, the company announced that the schematics and firmware for the recently discontinued developers kit (DK1) will be made available to the public.
In fact, it’s available now. And those interested in developing their own virtual reality headset (or just looking to read a bunch of complex tidings) can find everything on GitHub.
The information and content released is completely free, and can be used for both practical and research purposes (and surely some creepy ones, too). Instructions are included as well, so brave enthusiasts are welcome to give it a try.
