SEGA 3D Classics Getting Retail Release in Japan

SEGA has already remastered a chunk of their classic catalog of games for the 3DS. Along with a bucket-load of new features and options, they’ve added crisp stereoscopic 3D, bringing new life to timeless hits. They’re certainly among the highlights of the 3DS eShop library, but those who enjoy physical ownership can also look forward to the newly announced retail release which will contain a nice mix of SEGA 3D classics.

The retail version will contain the following games:

  • 3D Space Harrier
  • 3D Fantasy Zone
  • 3D Outrun
  • 3D Bare Knuckle/Streets of Rage
  • 3D The Super Shinobi II/ Shinobi III: Return of the Master Ninja
  • 3D Ecco the Dolphin

In addition to these games, the release also contains the SEGA Master System versions of Outrun and Space Harrier.

Apart from being a good value proposition, the packaging is graced by a spectacular piece of cover art. It looks like this will be the first of many compilation releases, and what a nice way to start things off. Unfortunately, the release has only been confirmed for Japan, but fingers crossed that this nostalgia-charged compilation comes westward.
