In a recent interview, Arnaud Jamin, developer behind Assassin’s Creed: Unity, stated that Ubisoft intends on going with “a title that matches the theme in the future” (concerning the Assassin’s Creed series).
This means that Rogue and Unity aren’t likely to be the last games in the series to drop the number from the title. This is a strange turn of events, as Brotherhood and Revelations performed under expectations due in part to fan confusion — or so Ubisoft suggests. The company does has a history of doing this, though, as is evident with the Rayman and Rainbow Six series’.
Obsessive collectors may be unhappy at this latest tidbit of news, as it makes organizing the series a mess (unless you have an eidetic memory). Chronological in order of release? Time period? Alphabetically? Like the series, the options are endless.
