Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes Steam Release Date Announced

Konami Digital Entertainment has announced today that it will release the PC version of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes via Steam, with a release date set for December 18, 2014. The company has confirmed the game will be 4K compatible and will feature an increase in the number of simultaneous light sources, models that can be displayed on-screen, and increased shadow resolution. More shadows! Spooky, scary!

For those who have not yet played it, Ground Zeroes takes place in 1975 and spurs a series of events that culminate in the plot lines of the upcoming and highly anticipated Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. This game, however, centers on Big Boss as he infiltrates a secret prison base called “Camp Omega” in Cuba on a rescue mission, but soon finds himself alone behind enemy lines.

Ground Zeroes is centered on a large open environment, with missions that change dynamically depending on the time of day and weather. The game offers total freedom of movement within its missions, with players having their choice in how to traverse the area, engage guards, and whether or not to rescue those in need. With such variety comes replay value, and the game encourages players to revisit areas (there will be plenty secrets to uncover). The game also features an online global ranking system where players can compete in unique in-game mission challenges to see how they compare against others around the world, so you can bet there will be steam achievements to grab as well.
