New 3DS Firmware Update Allows For Themes

Take a break from Smash Bros. friends, your 3DS needs to be updated. Other than your typical stability fine tuning, the newest update allows you to both capture the home screen, and add themes to the home menu.

You start out with five free themes, containing basic color changes; Yellow, Black, Red, Blue and Pink. There are plenty more to choose from, but they’ll cost you, ranging in price from $0.99 to $1.99. You can choose from basic shapes such as stripes, polka dots and checkered to more interesting themes such as Mario, Luigi, Peach and Yoshi styled themes (including having your folders looking like Mario’s suspenders or Yoshi’s eggs), Legend of Zelda or even Hanafuda (which Nintendo started out as) as well as Mushrooms.

All of these themes also include specific sounds to be played during your time spent in the menu, such as the famous Super Mario Bros. theme, character themes, the theme to Legend of Zelda and a nice and tranquil theme for Hanafuda just to name a few.

Hopefully more themes outside of Nintendo franchises will be available for purchase, like a Mega man or Sonic theme in the near future. More information can be found here.
