The Evil Within PC Specifics Released, 30fps Confirmed

While it was rumored just the other day that the highly anticipated survival horror title would be locked at 30fps on PC, it has now been confirmed. In a post from Bethesda on their official forums, the company has laid out all the information you need to know to prepare for The Evil Within.

Minimum Requirements

  • OS: Windows 7/8 (64 bit)
  • GPU: GTX 460 or an equivalent 1gb VRAM card
  • CPU: i7 or an equivalent 4+ core processor
  • RAM: 4 GB
  • HDD: 50 GB
  • High Speed Internet Connection (Steam account and activation)

Recommended

  • OS: 64-bit Windows 7/Windows 8 (64 bit)
  • GPU: GeForce GTX 670 or equivalent with 4GBs of VRAM
  • CPU : i7 with four plus cores
  • RAM: 4 GBs RAM
  • 50 GB of hard drive space
  • High Speed Internet Connection (Steam account and activation)

In addition, the PC version will make up for roughly 41 GB of space on your hard drive and will be available for Pre-load on October 10. Oddly enough, anyone with less than 4GB of VRAM will unfortunately be unable to play the game at 1080p without sacrificing some of the visual fidelity. Speaking of graphical options, the publisher has also published all the settings available for modification. This includes windowed support, three different types of anti-aliasing (FXAA, MLAA and SMAA), low to high Shadow Quality, Motion Blur, SSAO and Reflections.

They also state that, while The Evil Within does support up to 4K textures, it’ll have both a locked 2.35:1 letterbox aspect ratio, and a locked frame rate at 30fps. This is somewhat of a disappointment, but given that Bethesda is supplying the game with console commands, modders will be able find a work around.
