Smite Closed Beta Coming to Xbox One Early 2015

Hi-Rez Studios announced at Gamescom that their third-person MOBA Smite would be coming to Xbox One via ID@Xbox. Today, we have a good idea of when Xbox One players will get a chance to play the god vs god MOBA.

Hi-Rez co-founder and COO Todd Harris revealed in a PAX Australia recap video that he and his team are aiming to have a closed beta on Xbox One early 2015.

“We’re working really hard on a console version of Smite, and in the beginning of the year, we’re going to start closed beta for the Xbox One version. We hope to release that in the first half of next year.”

Smite is a MOBA that pits gods and goddesses from many different mythologies against one another. The game has proved to be quite popular garnering 5 million registered players since it launched back in March. With a launch on Xbox One, Hi-Rez hopes to court console players who normally wouldn’t play MOBAs, mostly because there are almost no MOBAs on consoles.
