PS3 and Xbox 360 fans can look forward to a bright Grand Theft Auto Online experience. Rockstar has no plans to drop support for the older consoles.
Fans playing on the last-gen consoles posed the question to Rockstar, who have been showering a lot more attention on the PS4 and Xbox One versions. The developer responded, confirming its support for all four console versions.
“We are incredibly thankful to our original generation of GTAV and GTA Online players on those systems and wish to continue providing content to them for as long as we can. Of course, at some point in the future, there may be a point where we reach the limits for the previous generation of consoles as there may be some updates that are only technically possible on the new hardware – but we do hope to continue delivering as many updates as we can for all four consoles for as long as possible.”
Not all content will work its way into the last-gen versions of Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online. The much hyped First-Person Mode will remain a current-gen console and PC exclusive feature. Simply put, the PS3 and Xbox 360 don’t have the memory to pull it off. However, multiplayer Heists will come to PS3 and Xbox 360 as well as PS4 and Xbox One.
