Steam Client Beta Adds FPS Counter to Overlay

The Steam Client Beta has added a much requested feature to the Steam overlay, a counter which will show the current game’s framerate.  The Steam overlay, which is accessible by pressing shift+tab in-game by default, will show players how well a game is running on their machine up front, instead of leaving them to rely on third party programs like FRAPS running in the background.

The FPS counter update comes with a few tweaks to the relatively new Steam Broadcast steaming service. You can check out the full list of updates on Steam’s blog and in case you can’t wait for the changes to come to the main client, details on how to opt-in on beta testing can be found on Valve’s developer wiki.
