Rock Band DLC Returns After 21-Month Hiatus

It seems so long ago that plastic instruments were ruling gaming, thanks to the mass success of rhythm titles like Rock Band. After closing shop on downloadable songs 21 months ago, Rock Band developers Harmonix are set to deliver three new songs for their DLC service.

Harmonix announced today that the following songs would be available to download as DLC in Rock Band 3 for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 tomorrow, January 13 (European PS3’s on January 21):

  • Arctic Monkeys – “R U Mine?”
  • Avenged Sevenfold – “Shepherd of Fire”
  • Foo Fighters – “Something From Nothing”

Each song will be available individually for $1.99 USD, £.99 UK, and €1.49 EU.

The sudden return of Rock Band DLC is certainly puzzling, after “American Pie” marked the final page in the long-running DLC service. Could this mean that Harmonix might be giving the Rock Band series another go on next-gen? They have gauged interest, after all. Stay tuned to Hardcore Gamer for more details as they develop.
