It seems odd that one of the most prolific developers in Nintendo’s lineup would evade Twitter for so long, but Metroid Prime and Donkey Kong Country Returns developers Retro Studios seemed to have finally entered the popular social network.
The newly created Retro Studios Twitter account might seem sketchy at first (impersonation of various developers isn’t necessarily uncommon), but the account is followed by various figures like CEO/President of Retro Studios Michael Kelbaugh (who was the first to follow them) and Retro Studios artist Eric Kozlowsky (who retweeted the debut “peekaboo” tweet). The account’s legitimacy was later confirmed by Metroid community Shinesparkers, who reached out to devs about the account. Welcome to Twitter, Retro Studios.
Could this be for a specific reason? Could announcements be on the way? Retro Studios have been in their development lab for a while now after the rampant success of the Metroid Prime games on Gamecube and Wii, and the reboot of the Donkey Kong Country series, Donkey Kong Country Returns. While their next project is still unknown, you will be able to download their superb Metroid Prime Trilogy for Wii U later this month.
