Robert Bowling’s Robotoki Studio Shutting Down, Human Element ‘on Hiatus’

Robert Bowling, ex-Infinity Ward creative strategist, told Polygon today that his new studio, Robotoki, will be shutting down, effective immediately, and Human Element, its free-to-play action game set 30 years after a zombie apocalypse, is now “on hiatus.”

“We were actively negotiating a new publishing deal for the premium version of Human Element,” Bowling said, “but unfortunately I was unable to continue to self-fund development until a deal was finalized.”

Human Element was meant to launch on PC this November, with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions to follow. While another zombie apocalypse game might have been hard to get excited for at this point, it’s always a bummer to see people lose their jobs.
