Cross-buy is easily one of the best, most pro-consumer concepts to come out of the last decade in the gaming industry, the idea that if you buy one version of a game, you’ll get other versions digitally at no extra charge. So far, it’s a feature that has largely been constrained to PlayStation platforms and Nintendo’s own upcoming Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars, but publisher Curve Digital has announced that OlliOlli will be the first third-party game to support cross-buy between Nintendo’s Wii U and 3DS platforms.
We are extremely excited to announce that our 3DS & Wii U versions of @Roll_7's OlliOlli will be CROSS BUY! A first for a third party game.

That’s pretty incredible news for Wii U and 3DS owners as it signals what will hopefully be the start of many cross-buy games to come, and because OlliOlli is just an awesome game. One of OlliOlli‘s coolest features when it originally launched on PlayStation platforms last year was its cross-buy functionality, allowing players to switch from their TV to their Vita and back, so it’s great that Nintendo players will be able to do the same.
OlliOlli hits Wii U and 3DS on March 5, with Xbox One release following in March as well. Its sequel, OlliOlli 2: Welcome to Vinewood, will release on PlayStation 4 and Vita in March as well.
