While Etrian Mystery Dungeon is just a few weeks away from release, ATLUS announced today what we’ve known has been coming for a while: the localization of Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold: The Fafnir Knight. Fafnir will be the follow up to 2013’s Millennium Girl, and will continue the trend of being an upgraded/remastered version of Etrian Odyssey II: Heroes of Lagaard, which released on the DS back in 2008. ATLUS revealed that the game will launch sometime this coming summer, though a concrete release date was not nailed down.
Still, we can probably expect the usual treatment, with first-print copies coming packaged with an arranged OST, artbook and some deluxe packaging — though none of that has been confirmed yet. The studio did open up a website, however, which can be checked out here. Pre-orders are also live over at GameStop and Amazon.

Calling all Etrian cartographers! The latest entry into the Untold series of the Etrian Odyssey franchise will be available for the Nintendo 3DS system this summer! Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold: The Fafnir Knight will feature the “two-games-in-one” style of gameplay like the first Etrian Odyssey Untold game: story mode and classic mode. Story mode features a fixed party of adventurers, has voiced dialogue, animated cutscenes and broaches the winding tale of the titular Fafnir Knight. Classic mode of course is the upgraded version of the original Etrian Odyssey 2, with new dungeon layouts, UI/system improvements based on feedback from the last EOU game, and an improved Grimoire stone system.
