The SXSW award voting has ended and it was a big year for Dragon Age: Inquisition, The Last of Us: Left Behind, South Park: The Stick of Truth, and Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor. Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor won for Excellence in Design and Direction as well as Excellence in Gameplay. Sadly, no game won the Montgomery Burns Award For Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Excellence. Child of Light won Excellence in Art, while South Park won for Excellence in Convergence. Nintendo got a big win thanks to Super Smash Bros. Wii U’s Excellence in Multiplayer.
Speedrunners won the Gamer’s Voice Award and beat out 29 other games do to do. Far Cry 4 won for Excellence in Visual Achievement, while The Wolf Among Us gave adventure games a win in the Excellence in Narrative category. Alien: Isolation went from a game people were worried about to an award-winner thanks to its Excellence in SFX, while Transistor won for Excellence in Musical Score.
