If you’ve been reading our extensive boss guides up to this point, you probably realize that this is the end of the road. You’ve defeated all of the bosses that Bloodborne has to offer, and the final one standing in your way is a woman who you’ve seen numerous times before. Those who thought the sobbing woman in the white dress that appears after the fights against Mergo’s Wet Nurse and Rom, the Vacuous Spider was simply a NPC that did nothing other than cry are mistaken, as Yharnam, Pthumerian Queen is a full-fledged boss. While she isn’t as difficult as the devastating Abhorrent Beast, there are a few things that you have to keep in mind in order to quell the Queen of Yharnam (and all of her obnoxious weeping) once and for all.
The Pthumerian Queen’s initial attacks are extremely easy to dodge, but you’re still going to want to make sure you’re paying attention. All of her blood-based attacks have the potential to do Rapid Poison damage, so having as many Antidotes on hand is absolutely imperative here. For the majority of this fight, you’re going to want to make sure you combine quick-stepping or rolling with a series of quick melee attacks (a high-level single-hand weapon is going to work best here). Try not to get too greedy with these attacks, as it’s definitely possible to get caught up in a stream of blood and die rather quickly. Another thing to keep in mind is that if you attack the Queen while her baby is crying, there is a chance that you can be stunned, which will put you at a distinct disadvantage. Because of this, you’re going to want to do damage in short bursts, as opposed to extended combinations.
After roughly 25% of her health is depleted, the Pthumerian Queen will break her handcuffs and attempt to use a knife to melee you. This opens her up for a few devastating Visceral Attacks, which should make the rest of the proceedings much faster. Once she reaches 50% of her health, she’ll begin to summon six blood knives at a time from the ground (five quick knives with the sixth delayed a tad). These are simple to dodge, so be sure to pay attention to your surroundings. Continue to do damage to the Pthumerian Queen in two-attack bursts and eventually you will find yourself victorious.
Congratulations, you’ve defeated every major boss in Bloodborne! Pat yourself on the back and get ready to do it all over again in New Game Plus.
