Somehow, despite a total obsession for everything roguelike in the gaming community, the concept of a rhythm/roguelike hybrid wasn’t pursued heavily until Crypt of the NecroDancer.
Your goal is to trek through increasingly dangerous dungeons in tune with the beat. Staying synced with the music yields rewards while failing to do so is a dangerous path indeed. In a ridiculously wonderful feature you can even play with a USB dance pad.
Crypt of the NecroDancer hit Steam Early Access in July 2014 and is just about ready to exit the program. On April 23 it will graduate into a complete release full of challenging gameplay, toe-tapping tunes, and brightly-colored (yet deadly) pixelated dungeons.
