Sega and developer M2 have been on fire with their 3D Classics line, which hit Nintendo’s handheld two years ago and hasn’t stopped giving us revisited gems from Sega’s history since. In this second wave of games, we’ve seen After Burner II, Fantasy Zone, Out Run already, and as of today we now have Fantasy Zone II.
As a follow-up to the original FZ, the sequel expands on the formula laid by its predecessor with more vibrant graphics and new concepts, while still maintaining the classic, side-scrolling, shoot-em-up fun. For this particular release, M2 has given the title their usual treatment of enhanced visuals with stereoscopic 3D support, additional gameplay features and the all new Endless Game Mode.
The game is available now on the 3DS eShop for the usual asking price of $5.99 (which is an absolute steal for these games!) And don’t forget that next month we’ll be getting 3D Thunder Blade, followed by Wave 3 of games this summer, which includes the likes of Sonic 2, Streets of Rage 2 and Gunstar Heroes. If you’re taking a “wait and see” approach with Fantasy Zone II, know that we’ll have a review up of the game in the coming days; so check back then for our final verdict.
