Nintendo President Will Skip E3 Again

For the second year in a row, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata will not be in attendance at E3 in Los Angeles. In a statement to IGN, the Japanese company that said that “Nintendo’s focus for E3 this year will be showcasing the many games we have coming for both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. Mr. Miyamoto and other members of our development team will be in Los Angeles to explain these games and the unique experiences that each offers. Mr. Iwata’s focus in this period will be on other areas of our business that require his presence in Japan.”

Iwata missed last year’s E3 due to an unfortunate illness, but it appears this year Nintendo’s president and CEO has more important matters to attend to at the company’s headquarters in Japan (perhaps regarding Nintendo’s collaboration with mobile developer DeNA). Nintendo did assure that Iwata would be in “constant contact” with the team in L.A., however, so this development certainly should’t signal a smaller presence from Nintendo this year, especially in light of its recently revealed E3 plans.
