Boy, I bet it’s not fun to be in the Bandai Namco offices right about now. First Dark Souls III‘s existence—complete with screenshots and very specific details—gets leaked ahead of E3 by The Know, and now IGN has gotten ahold of a promotional image with the game’s release window of “Early 2016” on it.
The leaked image below gives a look at a kneeling knight whose clothes are both ripped and on fire. In one one, he clutches his sword; in the other, he appears to be making a fist, possibly crushing a humanity. The ruins of a castle are in the background. IGN appears confident about the image, but as always, you have to take these things with a grain of salt.
There have been rumors brewing that Dark Souls III would be making an appearance at E3 2015 next week, but nothing was confirmed and many thought that series developer FROM Software might want to give fans a breather. Seems like those people were wrong, and now we know everything from how many new enemies the game will feature (45), how many new bosses there will be (15), and even that there will be 60 minutes of in-engine cut scenes.
We only have one more week to find out whether it’s all true.
