Sony and Insomniac Games have revealed the first trailer for the next Ratchet and Clank installment on PlayStation 4.
The trailer shows off clips of the upcoming animated film and never-before-seen gameplay footage of the game as well. Insomniac Community Lead, James Stevenson said the game was suppose to be a “re-imagining” of the 2002 original game, but decided to go in a slightly different direction instead.
“We ended up with a new game, with elements based on the original – but now with modern controls, several new planets, new and updated gameplay segments, all-new Clank gameplay, all new boss fights, new flight sequences, and more, all constructed to take advantage of the PS4’s graphical prowess.” Stevenson said on the PlayStation Blog. “Throw in James Arnold Taylor as Ratchet, and you have a new beginning.”
With the fresh start, Insomniac changed up the arsenal as well. Brand new and fan-favorite weapons will fill Ratchets inventory. From the Pixelizer (which transforms enemies into explosive 8-bit pixels) to the wise-cracking robotic bodyguard Mr. Zurkon, weapons will be much improved.
There will also be a special bonus for those who pre-order the game. The famous weapon, The Bouncer will be making its return. The Bouncer launches a bomb that releases tiny homing bombs that bounce towards enemies.
The Ratchet and Clank game will launch Spring 2016 and the animated film will be out around the same time.
