Great news for all those who have been waiting for an open-world Fallout game with seemingly brilliant non-VATS combat: it’s here.
A Fallout 4 combat trailer was shown off during the Bethesda E3 Showcase, and it appears as though the shooting mechanics in first and third-person have been completely reworked and polished. Players now have the ability to aim down sights in first-person and fight with tight third-person mechanics if they so choose. In Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, VATS was really the only way for players to defeat enemies successfully on a regular basis. Now that Fallout 4 has essentially built true third-person and first-person shooting into its gameplay, it seems as though this will be the title that ropes in whoever has been afraid of the series due to its notoriously clunky combat. Todd Howard and the Bethesda Game Studios have been working to make sure that however you play Fallout 4, it’s going to feel dynamic and great.
Fallout 4 is currently slated for a November 10 release on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
